| Hard to say, I have so many favorite movies. My first one favorite of Hollywood's production would be Black Hawk Down (2001). Good modern war movie about US loss of 2 Black Hawk military helicopters to Somali rebels in 1993. I would like to add that there were rumors that depiction of Somali partisan tactics were so authentic that Saddam Hussein told his soldiers to watch and learn from it. |

| Ha, ha! Maybe you hate that movie because it is a piece of American propaganda in there or maybe you don't like modern war movies at all? But tell me why do you hate that movie? In my opinion, it is one of the rather realistic American war movies. For example, if we compare with other ones, like "Three Kings (1999)" which is a total fiction and nearly total propaganda too. |

| I will tell you why i do hate it .... it has nothing to do with the American propaganda .... i just see no point of shooting a war battle without any real story included .... i had a headache from those shooting sounds that started since the very first beginning of the movie till the end | |

| Oh, I see. You are not the only one who can't stand that shooting all the movie along. But that is the way war movies are. It can't be a war movie without shooting sounds. That is reality of warfare. But I have to disagree about story. Actually there is a story behind it - Americans thought it will be a piece of cake mission just to kidnap Somali warlord leader and peace will be made in Somalia. And to their surprise things turned out not much like they expected to. So they were forced to fight their way through the Somali capital and how can you do it without shooting all the way, huh? |

Of course I am not a movies critic to tell how they would have done that .... they might have focused on the political aspects or the decision making process .... not on the fights itself .... war battles are usually a mess in nature .... there is no point of putting that mess on a 2 houre movie .... no war strategy or tactics .... just people shooting each other .... such a waste of time what's important to me as a viewer is either to like the movie or get bored about it .... i saw several war movies b4 .... The Guns of Navaron was the one i liked a lot .... but this one is an annoyance | |

| But it seems you miss the whole point of Black Hawk Down. Main idea of this movie as to show soldier's heroism in extremely hostile situations like the one in Somalia in 1993. It was never meant to be documentary style movie with complete aspects of mission planning, tactics, execution and et cetera. It was merely a tribute to the American soldiers who fought and died there. And it must be treated as a such.
By the way, have you seen Israeli made movie "The band's visit" (Bikur Ha-Tizmoret)? |

| Pity! That movie is about Egyptian police orchestra band from Alexandria coming to Israel after the invitation by local Arab culture center. But band gets lost in a wrong Israeli city in a process. Partly drama, partly a comedy.
But if you are interested in Hollywood production, then you should have seen the "Kingdom of Heaven"? I heard that it was quite a popular in Egypt. If you have seen it, what is your opinion about that movie? |

| Again pity! If you have chance to watch uncut version of Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut), I highly recommend it. That version is longer and makes the whole story more clear and logical, plus it makes up more for the historical account of the movie. Standard version is more like typical action movie about Crusades but not bad as well.
P.S. Why aren't you answering my last question to you in Members Chat Topic? |
